Congratulations and many thanks to all writers and interviewees and donors and supporters for making this book what it is...A WINNER!

Passion For Place is exquisite. You can feel the River coming off the pages. And the wisdom of the people who belong to it.
~ Barry Lopez, author, Arctic Dreams
Passion for Place is a book and CD project for and by the community and serves as a prototype for people in other communities. The book would not be where it is without all those who wrote for the book, granted interviews (44 total) and those who are supporting it through their generosity of time, expertise, and donations. In addition, Pamela Takigawa and Anne Greene have created beautiful drawings of flora and fauna that accompany the text and paintings/photographs.
This project is about creativity and the possibility of cultural change, understanding what ecological integrity means, and knowing that we are a part of that integrity.
When we live together with a watershed consciousness, we come to understand more clearly how our actions affect the greater whole. Imagine how life and business could be different if more and more people around the world became immersed in their home watershed in this way!

“Passion for Place brings together and creates this ethos of watershed consciousness, a community that gives life to mindfulness on living on our Earth--our most expressive humanity of conscience and attentiveness. Passion for Place “…honors the spirit of place, giving an energy and heart and beautiful order to the commitments and conscience of humanity.”

The creative life is not only about creating art objects, but about how we, as a culture, can bring more creativity into all our lives to solve challenges, whether they are social, environmental, or political. Being an artist is about keeping open the creative channels with which we are all born so change can happen in beautiful and constructive ways.
